I've been using Linux, specifically EndeavourOS with Hyprland and Noctalia Shell, which I installed on two separate machines (a Dell Optiplex 3060 and a 2019 Intel Macbook Air). Due to the T2 security chip in the Macbook Air there was a bit more work to do, but luckily which has it's own solutions/"distros". I think the craziest part is that a lot of these Linux distros are set up to be easily installed and function pretty much right away. Sure, you can get wild with the customization/tweaking, or you can install the three "pieces" I mention and have something working quite adequately.
I understand not everyone is comfortable switching to a new OS, but having used EndeavourOS for a good year now, it's funny to hear people still complaining about Windows when a completely free, stable, and functional OS exists. Sure, it has its quirks (just like Windows and MacOS) and there are always some things going on in the free open-source community (just like at most software companies), but I often find a solution that works and is actually nice. It's pretty crazy that there are people out there making this all work without needing to make it suck, or try to bleed us of every cent.
And you can just install these things, and they work.
